Through one half, it looked like Georgia’s streak of 19 consecutive wins could be in jeopardy.
But it took the Bulldogs only seven minutes and 20 seconds of game time in the third quarter to put South Carolina’s chances at an upset to bed on Saturday in Athens, Georgia.

Facing a 14-3 deficit at halftime, No. 1 UGA (3-0) came out of the locker room firing in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points and earning a 24-14 victory to extend its winning streak to 20 games.Georgia rode a dominant third quarter to victory, allowing only 32 yards compared to its 197. Quarterback Carson Beck and the Bulldogs offense also held the ball for 10:30, compared to the Gamecocks’ 4:30 in the quarter.
In his first career start in SEC conference play, Beck completed 27 of 35 passes for 269 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. UGA was led by Daijun Edwards on the ground, who carried the ball 20 times for 118 yards and a touchdown. Dillon Bell and Cash Jones punched in Georgia’s other two rushing touchdowns in the game.
South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler was near-perfect in the first half, completing 16 of 18 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. But in the second half, the Bulldogs found an answer for the fifth-year signal caller and former Oklahoma transfer.Rattler was a mere 6 for 24 in the second half for a pedestrian 104 yards. He also threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter, the first of which was picked off by Dan Jackson and the second by Tykee Smith.

6:45 p.m.: UGA ran out some clock but is forced to punt. USC takes over with under two minutes to go deep in its own territory.
6:40 p.m.: Rattler looks deep on third and 20, and his pass is picked off by Dan Jackson. The interception is Rattler's first this season.
6:38 p.m.: A holding penalty sets USC back 10 yards.

6:13 p.m.: Just a perfect drive by the Bulldogs. Eight plays, 61 yards, 3:49 time of possession capped off by a 13-yard touchdown run by preferred walk-on Cash Jones. Make it 21 unanswered points for Georgia.
6:12 p.m.: Brock Bowers: hard to tackle.
6:11 p.m.: UGA running the ball at will now. Four consecutive runs by Dillon Bell and Daijun Edwards go for a combined 23 yards.
6:07 p.m.: Georgia takes over on its own 39-yard line.
6:05 p.m.: Rattler not getting much help now. He makes a pass right to Xavier Leggette's chest as he was hit, but it was dropped. UGA forces a three and out.

5:46 p.m.: Georgia dials up the pressure and it pays off. It sacks Rattler on third and 7 to force another punt. Rattler had back-to-back completions of 23 and 11 yards to start the drive, but UGA stopped the early momentum.

5:38 p.m.: Just like that, Georgia has the lead. It took only 7:20 of game time for the Bulldogs to delete an 11-point deficit. Dillon Bell takes it in for the three-yard rushing touchdown.
5:37 p.m.: Beck settling in nicely now. He completes a six-yard pass to RaRa Thomas before converting a fourth and 1 try on the quarterback sneak. UGA back in the red zone.
5:30 p.m.: UGA forces a three and out and now has great field position. Bulldogs take over on USC's 48.
5:29 p.m.: Georgia is juiced now. Chris Peal with a huge tackle on the kickoff puts the Gamecocks on their own eight-yard line. The Bulldogs then sacked Rattler to move USC back to its 4.
